Anger in waiting: chapter 2

Chapter 2
Yukihime dashed out of the room on to a balcony that overlooked the town, so that she could always see what was happening, there was about two people running and screaming trying to head up the hill to safety and following them was the rest of the town. Overcome with the anger that was devastating town after town wether people were angry or not. She ran back into the house and grabbed yatsuna before she went out the door. As she exited Dan and Sarah grabbed their weapons and followed with Rufus and Coal.
Yuki Yelled down at the people running up the hill "Do not stop running you shall be safe in my house!"
As she dashed ahead of the others and passed through the people who were not infected she came upon the first string of those who were. She distracted them from chasing people by becoming live bait. As the first one came to attack her she dodged and sliced through his head and then further down cutting the man into two even sides. With the first one down there was still around sixty more to kill. She slashed and cut through seven more before the other two made it down the hill now with eight dead and dismembered and Yuki splattered with blood Sarah and Dan had the opportunity to help. Sarah slammed her bat as hard as she could at the nearest skull filled with anger. As the bat hit there was a large cracking sound and the woman fell over. Sarah swung several times more hitting her mark every time as Dan went about breaking necks and slicing throats with his pocket knife. As body after body fell, and they slowly were covered with more blood, they heard a growl. Sarah stopped realizing it was Rufus, she turned to see what he was growling at and there behind them where two dozen unangered had been were two dozen anger filled people running down the hill at them. They were the only three left in the entire town who were not overcome by the anger.
"Yuki! Dan! We have a problem!" She said as she turned to find Yuki ending the life of the last one in the group where they were at. "I'm glad you finished down here but I hope you have enough energy left for say twenty four more people." She pointed up the hill at the group who was about five yards away.
"No. This can't be happening. How can the last of my village who were perfectly fine now be under the control of anger. What has brought this about?" Yuki looked as if she might fall to the ground unwilling to fight, but as she tightened her grip on yatsuna she stated "If they were too weak to fight the anger then they have no right to live please wait here. I will deal with them on my own."
Before either of them had a chance to speak Yukihime was running up the hill to the second group on angered.  She held on tight to yatsuna as she sliced the first three in half across their stomachs. A man who had overcome with anger after he had been brutally attack was missing the lower half of his jaw. Where it would have been Yuki cut through his skull and neck.  She decapitated several others who were standing close by to the jawless man.  Five big men came racing at her one of them held a bat that he had been holding for his safety before he became angered. He led the pack as they surrounded her. She was able to slice open the stomachs of two of the men and cut off the legs of a third but as she turned to kill the man with the baseball bat he hit her in the back with it. She stumbled as the man with no legs grabbed onto her leg and bit in.
Then out of nowhere the man with the baseball hat was missing his head, and a loud bang rang out. The legless man and the other man too soon lost their heads. Several more shots rang off as the last of the angered were killed.  After all was calm and Sarah was tending to Yuki's wounds a tall man strode out of the woods carrying a strange gun. Yuki, Dan, and Sarah all tensed up as he came closer to them.
"Hey y'all alright? Hope I didn't startle y'all with those shots I sent off from up in the woods. I just saw some people in trouble, and couldn't just let a couple pretty girls like you two be killed by the anger.  By the way names Tommy. You three alright?"
Seeing now that he was no danger Dan answered for them. "Yeah were good man. Thanks for the save back there. That was a close one for Yuki."
"Well I'm truly glad y'all are alright, but I am wonderin' how is it that this here entire town was infected yet the three of you are just fine. Well then again I guess y'all are kind of like me. I ain't never been infected with that there anger. So where are y'all gonna go now? It'd be too creepy to stay here."
Sarah looked at Yuki, and then at Dan "I guess we'll move on to the next town till we find a place that's safe where refuges from other towns can stay."
The other two nodded and then Sarah and Dan helped Yuki stand. They began to head up the hill towards Yukihime's house and their stuff when Tommy asked them "Mind if I come along? It's kind of lonely traveling in this fearful time."
They all nodded and began the trip up the hill as they walked they all thought of the events that had happened today. They were trying to wrap their mind around the fact that an entire town had been overcome with anger for what seemed no apparent reason. As they finally reached Yukihime's house on the hill they went in and gathered their things and then brought them outside to the van. Sarah opened the back of the van for them to fit in their supplies. They all loaded their stuff in and then got in themselves with Sarah driving, Yuki to her left, Dan behind Yuki, and Tommy behind Sarah, while Rufus and Coal curled up comfortably in the very back seat. She started the car and they were on their way to the next town and hopefully a peace that lasted a bit longer. They drove for several miles without saying a word but finally Tommy spoke up.
"So how exactly did y'all three meet up?"
"We actually met Yuki in the town we just left, but I met Dan in the town of Dread after I left my city because I had a slight outburst of anger. Now I got a question for you. What kind of gun is that? I've never seen anything like it." Sarah stated.
"Huh? Not much of story between y'all. Oh well. This gun is something I specially made. It's a cross between a Gatling gun, and a shot gun. It's my pride and joy. It'll blow the head off someone with one shot or if I use it as the multi shot Gatling gun it will basically destroy a person's entire body or just kill a whole lot of people. Best weapon there is to have but you need a lot of arm strength to carry it."
"Hmm. Sounds like a nice thing to have. I prefer my hands and a knife though." Dan said "Sometimes it's easier to carry a small weapon and be fast enough to dodge when holding it. I mean what happens if they surround you and that big gun is in the way of you dodging their attacks or what if they have weapons and you are too close to use your gun."
"Say what you want but I still prefer Big Berta after all I made her with my own two hands."
After that they drove for about forty nine more miles before reaching the next town. They stopped outside of the town and looked at it in amazement there was a huge metal fence that they guessed went all the way around. It was about twelve feet high and there were two guard towers on the inside where they heard the shouts of a man. "Who are you and where do you hail from?"
They looked out their windows up at the tower to see the man. He called out again "Who are you and where do you hail from?" After he said this a second time Yukihime called up to him. "We are travelers from all different places looking for a place of safety and peace. We mean no harm and wish for rest. Might we stay here good sir?"
The man leaned over to his companion and they whispered between the two of them they then looked down at the four of them and then to the other tower where two other men stood. The two in the second tower nodded and pulled a switch, so did the two in the first tower. After this the gates began to open and the man they had spoken to earlier yelled down at them "Drive through."

It was play time at her school and she had decided to go into the back field to pick wild flowers. As she began to pick her flowers she noticed that farther out into the field the grass was all bent in one place. Milly turned to look at the school and then seeing that the teacher was not paying attention to her she headed towards the patch of crushed grass. As she came closer to the spot she realized that there was a man that she had never seen before lying in the grass asleep. She walked right up to him till she was standing over him. She crouched down and poked the man in the cheek a couple times before he began to stir.
As he opened his eyes she asked "Do you know the truth about what's happening?"
He opened his eyes and looked up to find a little girl staring at him and asking did he know the truth. Right now he didn't know anything not even who he was or where he was, but still he answered her back for some odd reason that he couldn't figure out. "Do I know the truth about what? What are you talking about?"
"Tell me do you know about it?"
"Know about what kid? What the heck are you talking about?"
"Don't ask me if I know I told you to tell me."
"Tell you about what?"
"Well I thought everyone knew about it. We're not actually supposed to talk about it. Especially in school they tell us there is no such thing."
"Such a thing as what, kid? You're not making any sense. Wait how old are you?"
"How old am I? why do you want to know?"
"I'm just wonderin'."
"Well I guess I can tell you. I'm only eight years old but I know about it. They say that there is no such thing, they tell us it doesn't exist but I know it does."
"Know about what already? What doesn't exist?"
"I saw it happen once."
"Saw what happen? What is it you saw?"
"What is it you ask? I'd tell you but they might hear. I don't want to get in trouble cause they might find it. It would be scary if it happened to them."
"Who might hear? Happened to who? Hey are you scared of it?"
"Am I scared of it? No I know how to get rid of it. I know what to do if it happens."
"Get rid of it? What do you mean?"
"I always carry something to help me if it happens."
"What is it you carry?"
"Besides it could never happen to me."
"What do you mean it would never happen to you?"
"I'm safe from it. It could never touch me."
"Who told you, you were safe from it? Whatever it is."
"Who told me that? No one told me. I just know."
"Kid are you ever going to tell me what the heck it is?"
"Will I ever tell you what it is? Maybe. They're watching me right now so I can't tell you….. If you really want to know what it is I'll tell you…?"
"Who's watching you? Really? You'll finally tell me..... Well what is it?"
"Oh you mean right now?"
"Yes I mean right now!"
"The thing that we're not allowed to talk about, the thing that gets everyone in trouble, that makes the grownups scare. It's….. the anger."
"The anger?"
"Milly it's time to come back inside." Her teacher called out.
"Hey mister will you wait here till school is over?"
"Sure why not I don't have anywhere else to go. Heck I don't know who I am."
"Yay. I'll see you after class Jack. Jack's the new name I'm gonna give you."
Milly ran into the school dropping all the flowers she had picked. As she headed into class a minivan with four strangers passed in front of the school. Milly waved and then went into class. Jack stared in curiosity.
The four of them drove slowly through a town that seemed like a perfect place. No trace of anger was present and everyone seemed happy and friendly. Even when they passed the school a little girl heading into class waved at them. This town was something perfect, but they all felt it was something eerie too.
